There isn’t a phrase I love and hate more than ‘It’s Morning in America’.
It may be the most contradicting remark ever written down, although at the time it was written, maybe things were different. I don’t even have time to talk about how far behind we are in every area of maintaining a country of our size, just humor me here.
It might sound crazy, but Americans should look to the middle east for inspiration, yes, I just said that. They are normal people like you and I living in countries with many social problems and an obscene wealth gap, this is starting to sound like the United States already.
Nobody in our generation has fought for freedom from an empire. There are people in the middle east using the same smart phones that we have to communicate a message of freedom and unity that anyone who enjoy’s free speech should applaud. The people of the middle east are now employing their own age of revolution, beautiful.
They are breaking away from the real tyranny present in the modern world, they are breaking away from state-sanctioned religious governments. Thanks to the internet, and the spread of ideas that came with it, the middle east has finally gotten an open-source-printing-press.
Why do many of the terrorist ideas and actions come from the middle east? They are the most adamant about following the instructions of their holy book, and because they do not have the economic status to say fuck it, lets get McDonalds.
Every person wants freedom, I hope this is the start to middle eastern democracy, because that will mean the downfall of Islamic power in the world, just as Christian power fell during the age of enlightenment, one of the greatest times in history, when humanity rose above the oppressors it faced.
I was just outside enjoying the morning air, watching the sun come up in Columbus, Ohio. Don’t get me wrong I hate Ohio, but I love Columbus, at least there is an airport nearby just in case. But I went outside and it was the first time I thought that morning in America actually meant something.
