I used to love the movie, ‘Saving Private Ryan’, I would watch it every time I was bored. I was infatuated with World War II history, and this was the movie that made it truly mainstream, other than ‘The Longest Day’, but nobody knows that movie anymore.
So I am doing two tests, because, again, I am bored. I just got a new Panasonic 42′ Viera TV, and I want to see what this looks like on it, and also if I still like Saving Private Ryan, because so many movies that I loved, when I was younger, have dissapointed me after I grew up and learned more.
So, I am hoping, that when I watch ‘Saving Private Ryan’ for the first time in many years, on my grand new TV, that I will not hate it like I hate Star Wars. Lets see how this goes….PLAY.
Nevermind. The first scene reminds me how brilliant this thing is, even though I don’t like Tom Hanks. A masterpiece.
I can’t say anything bad about the movie, and thankfully, my TV. But the dialogue is so different when you are older, and imagining the situations of war that they are encountering doesn’t hit you after you grow up. The movie is so well written, and the humanity of it, it should have won best picture twice.
